POETRY
outward
inward and outward–
a mask that covers
one’s own face,
in the light of uncertainty
and misunderstanding.
a smile can impose itself
upon a face that can
change in a flickering light,
depending on who is
surrounding the source.
a lizard can pretend
to be a gecko–
but a human cannot go
through metamorphosis to
become a butterfly,
especially with a
mask that hides
their true intentions.
never forget,
that you are lying to them
and you have been
for all of these years.
